This Weeks Firm Favourites

Hello Beautiful People ❤

I hope you’ve all had a fabulous week so far. I’ve been so busy with work, but am settling in and not feeling like the new girl anymore! I’ve had a great week, maybe not the most productive but sometimes it’s nice to relax at home and just reduce the stress. This post is all about the things I’ve been loving this week.

Netflix to the rescue again. I’m really loving ‘Suits’ at the moment. I’ve had a lot of unproductive evenings just eating and watching it in bed. This is not great for my waistline but it’s also heaven!

New Nails

I got my nails done again in the lovely Makeup Box in Naas. It’s great going somewhere with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The perfect way to kick off my weekend. I’ve decided not to get my gel nails done as it would be too difficult with the Invisalign, so I’m sticking with Shellac 🙂

New Hair Brush

I’m loving my new wooden brush by Kent. It smoothes hair naturally and the bristles massage my head too. I got it in Boots and it was €10.50 but the quality is worth it. My boyfriend thinks I’m slightly insane but a good hair brush makes all the difference.

Remember my post last week about not being able to eat due to my Invisalign, well this week I’ve more than made up for it. I’ve seriously over done it on the carbs and chocolate. I need to get motivated again as I’m feeling so sluggish but I just keep reaching for the chocolate!

Getting used to my Invisalign

After two weeks I can finally close my mouth properly again. Yes it is a small victory but a victory all the same 😛 Excuse the picture, it’s after a long day in work.

My new set of aligners are being put in on Tuesday and I’m praying my little win is not short lived!

Elie Saab at Paris Fashion Week

Last but certainly not least, I am in love with Elie Saab’s catwalk show at Paris Fashion Week. He is one of my favourite designers and I love everything about the looks he showcased during his ‘Way of the Woods’ show.

So the above pretty much sums up what has made me smile this week. I’m going to the Irish Beauty Show tomorrow too so I will of course keep you all updated on that also. Enjoy the rest of your weekend ❤

NYFW Favourites

Hey Guys,

Anyone who knows me will know that New York Fashion Week is like my Christmas. I have been glued to every and any online outlet for the designs since the shows kicked off. One of these days I will get there and be witnessing it all first hand. One day…..

I couldn’t wait to see the Victoria Beckham show as I think her designs are amazing. Needless to say the catwalk did not disappoint. Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors are also firm favourites of mine. So here are some of my top picks from the shows so far, I hope you enjoy 🙂

Victoria Beckham

 Diane von Furstenberg

Oscar de la Renta

Monique Lhuillier

Tommy Hilfiger

Zac Posen

 Michael Kors

Herve Leger by Max Azria

I particularly admired Peter Copping’s designs for Oscar de la Renta, which did not disappoint despite the late namesake not being this year’s creator.

The FROW’s style was also particularly admirable as always. I will be doing more on some of their looks later in the week.

These are a few of my Favourite Things

Hey Guys,

I hope you’re all having a great weekend! Sorry I haven’t been posting as much this week, I’ve been really sick and I’ve  just been sleeping after work. I am thankfully on the mend and the sun is shinning here so I’m in an absolutely great form 🙂 so I decided to do a piece on  few of my favourite things this week.

Favourite Thing No. 1 ; Music

There’s enormous hype over the 50 Shades of Grey Movie hitting our screens this week. What has caught my attention the most however is the soundtrack. Slowed down, sexy, sultry towns of Beyoncé’s Crazy in Love is replaying in my head over and over. I’m loving Sofia Karlberg’s version, her voice is amazing!

Favourite Thing No. 2 ; Food

Yes food will always make my list of favourite things, lets be honest. I find when I’m sick I look for comfort food. This week I have been loving scones and muffins (all in moderation) from Keogh’s on Trinity Street, Dublin 2. They are handmade and come in a range of different flavours; my favourite being the pear and vanilla! If you are in the city centre be sure to check them out.

Favourite Thing No. 3 Body Lotion & Hand Cream

The Royal Jelly Collection from Boots is my new favourite body lotion and hand cream. It’s so soft and creamy and it smells absolutely amazing. I love putting it on after a shower. The hand cream is also great for keeping your hands soft and smelling divine. Both are really reasonable (can’t remember off hand but approx. €4.00 – €5.00) so are a guilt free indulgence.

Favourite Thing No. 4 ; Alexa Chung

I’ve been reading Alexa Chung’s book ‘IT’ and I’ve been really enjoying it. I really love her unique style. She always manages to perfectly combine sophisticated, lady like style with a hippie chick look. I always admire someone who breaks away from the fashion ‘norm’ and even more so when they do it successfully. I think her looks are ideal for some Spring, Summer style inspiration!

Favourite Thing No. 5; Lazy Days Off

As I said I was sick this week but as work has been so busy lately, I couldn’t justify taking a day off. Since Monday I have been counting down the days (more so than usual) until I could stay in my PJs, stay makeup free and basically wallow in my sickness! I usually never take a proper day off, even at weekends I generally have quite a lot to do. This weekend however I think my body just needed to slow down. I can get quite irritated when I am sitting still for too long as I like to be busy, but I have to say this chilled weekend has done me the world of good. A lot of chocolate was consumed however to replace the alcohol.

So that’s my week summed up by my favourite things. I hope you enjoyed and are all having a lovely Sunday, doing whatever it is that makes you happy 🙂

A Sunday well spent, leads to a week of content

Paris Fashion Week

Hey Guys,

As an avid fashion lover, I have been glued to Paris Fashion Week, unable to concentrate on anything else. This may seem a tad inconvenient, however with the designs currently on offer from the participating designers, I think my obsession is justified. PFW is home to the chicest styles imaginable. Perfectly suited to the city’s renowned style reputation. Enough of my ramblings regarding my love for PFW, here are some of the great looks which have been strutted down the runway.

I was extremely eager to see what this show would have to offer. It tends to be one of my favourites each year. Needless to say onlookers were not left unsatisfied. The news that North West was in the FROW was a tad soul destroying as I would give my left arm to be sitting there, however moving on from being jealous of an enfant!

The designs present on this catwalk were unbelievably beautiful. Extremely feminine and elegant. There was an emphasis on a cinched in waist with large belts, whilst a large focus was also placed on muted colours and draped fabrics.

Balmain can literally be defined as power dressing at it’s finest. Structure played a strong role in the looks on the Balmain catwalk with the colours used also radiating power and strength.

I personally always love Lanvin’s designs. The pieces are simplistic but always have a good shape to them. They have a feminine appeal without being too girlie.

Alexis Mabille

Plunging Necklines were emphasized throughout this show. Icy colours were also prevalent with of course the ever popular black. Each piece looked crisp and clean cut without too much fuss.

Roland Mouret

He wanted ‘to be desirable’ and desirable he was. Roland Mouret was one of the few designer’s who showcased bright colours. From burnt orange to emerald green, the looks present on this catwalk were a stark comparison to many of the muted and monochrome colours offered in the other shows.

There are more great looks to come from Paris Fashion Week and I’m really looking forward to seeing more chic and elegant styles on the catwalk.

Hope you enjoyed this post ladies 🙂

London Fashion Week

Hey Guys,

London Fashion Week has just finished up, leaving a stiletto shaped hole in my heart. Following NY Fashion Week is no easy task, however of course they pulled out all the stops to ensure LFW was one to remember. I personally loved the styles present on the catwalks. They are actually looks that can be worn by us normal girls too! I am very excited for the SS15 styles to come into play.

There are many styles to look out for in Spring 2015. My favourites that seem to be prevalent across many of the designer catwalks, include; Ox-Blood, transparent and sheer fabrics, white and muted colours and of course black! I have put together some pictures of my favourite looks from London Fashion Week. I particularly loved the Temperley London catwalk which is shown at the end of this post.

Enjoy Ladies

David Koma

These designs consisted of great structure within each piece. The different fabrics and texture used for each, create a sophisticated appeal. The simple and understated colours mixed with the monochrome aspect add a timeless effect to these styles. I’m also in love with the shoes used throughout David Korma’s show.

Christopher Kane

I loved the looks present on the Christopher Kane catwalk in London. I admire how he mixes a masculine appeal into his clothing. The shapes and colours used are perfect for the woman who wants to be taken seriously. There is almost a work wear appeal to some of the pieces and they look ‘fierce’ for want of a better word. I really cannot pull off saying fierce but that is what his shows radiate! The ox-blood colouring present, is perfectly complemented by the use of monochrome and all white. The sheer fabrics are also seen on this catwalk. I love the mixture between the transparent black material and the crotchet/lace texture used in the dress pictured below.

Tom Ford

Never one to disappoint, Tom Ford showed us that black, black and more black will be prevalent through to Spring. Mixed with metallic and sheer fabrics, black is remaining a serious style staple according to Mr. Ford. I for one will not be disputing this fact! The detail used on each catwalk piece was incredible and really showed that black is anything but boring. Glamour, opulance and sex appeal; classic Tom Ford.

Simone Rocha

The Irish born designer that is Simone Rocha, is making a serious name for herself in the fashion world. Her catwalk show for London Fashion week showcased a mixture of black and muted colours; including the ever popular white. I personally loved the trim of each piece and the use of the scalloped edges. Sheer fabrics were once again in use, take note ladies!

This show also reinforced the use of the monochrome appeal for Spring 2015. Softer colours like the powder blue was also showcased on Osman’s catwalk. The textures again softened the looks, creating a feminine and ladylike allure.

Temperley London

I fell in love with the designs showcased throughout this show. The colours used are beautiful and perfect for Spring. From the mixture between the white and clashing colours to the soft, pastel blues in play, Temperley London have created stunning Spring/Summer inspiration. I love the use of the white pant suit. It is so versatile and can be utilised to achieve many different looks.
