Boohoo’s Collaboration is Backing All Women

Hello Beautiful People ❤

Happy Hump Day 😉 Today’s post is based around Boohoo’s collaboration with the beautiful plus size model Nadia Aboulhosn. The online retailer and the American influencer will be releasing a new line of clothing as part of the Boohoo Plus range.

boohooPLUS Look 13

The thing I love most about this collection is that the clothing included is stylish and encourages women to embrace their shape. In many cases, plus size clothing differ to what is available in order areas of the store or website. I’ve witnessed this first hand having previously worked in retail. Women would often get upset (or annoyed) that stylish clothing was not available in a plus size. Boohoo are combating this and proving that no matter what size the label says, you can look your best. I think more retailers need to get on board with this mind-set!

Here’s a sneak peak into my favourite’s from the new collection for Boohoo Plus

boohooPLUS BLACK CUTOUT DRESS €26

Cut out Dress €26.00

boohooPLUS BLACK DRESS WITH ZIP €34

Long Sleeve Asymmetric Zip Dress €34.00

boohooPLUS WHITE DRESS €26

Long Sleeve White Top €26.00

 boohooPLUS Look 2

Top €20.00 / Skirt €20.00

boohooPLUS BLACK LACE JUMPSUIT €40

Black, Lace Jumpsuit €40.00

boohooPLUS H.B.I.C Tee €14

Tee €14.00

boohooPLUS BLACK SKIRT €20

Asymmetric Skirt €20.00

I think Boohoo’s collaboration actually marks a pivotal stand against bullying and judgemental mindsets towards those who may not fit into a particular size. I personally believe that once you are healthy and happy then your size shouldn’t be something used against you. Size doesn’t determine who you are and it certainly shouldn’t determine your beauty and style.

So hats off to Boohoo who have proved that they are backing all shapes and sizes ❤

The collection will be released on the 23rd of March so be sure to check out http://www.boohoo.com for more.

Protect Your Skin Against Winter

Hey Guys,

At the moment the weather here in Ireland is starting to get colder and I have a feeling January is going to be a seriously cold month! This Winter weather can be quite tough on your skin. From the brisk, frosty weather to the harsh wind, our skin really does have to withstand a lot throughout this time. That’s not even including the heating that we are now constantly facing; whether it’s at home, in the office or even in shopping centres and restaurants. Our skin is literally going from one extreme to another. So in order to prevent your skin from getting dried out and over sensitive from the above factors I’ve compiled a list of the best methods to protect your skin throughout the colder months.

Change to Gentle Products: Skin can be more sensitive throughout the colder months and so strong products that are usually fine, can end up irritating it. I have sensitive skin anyway so I look for gentle products all the time. I think swapping a regular toner for a softer alternative can make a huge difference when skin is under added pressure. Instead of using toner, I have now introduced Rosewater and Witch-hazel and I love it. It’s really gentle and doesn’t leave skin feeling raw. The witch hazel also helps prevent breakouts on the skin, which of course is a huge plus! It is available in Boots at the pharmacy counter and it is approx. €4.00.

Rethink your Moisturizer: I know that people often say that too much moisture can cause spots and breakouts. While this can be the case, skin requires higher levels of moisture during colder periods. In order to prevent any breakouts, think about changing your moisturizer as opposed to over moisturising. One that works well in Spring and Summer may not be sufficient for the harsher Winter months. If your moisturizer is not giving you nivea1what you need, you may find your skin getting dryer. This often leads to people over moisturizing which then causes the breakouts. Instead switch to a stronger oil based option. Always look for ‘non-clogging’ alternatives to avoid pores being well obviously being clogged. Night creams are generally a good option as they create a protective layer around your skin.

Nivea is always one of my favourites as it is so soft and gentle. There are a number of different Nivea moisturizers and night creams IMG_0318available. Have a look at what is the most suitable for your own particular skin type. These products can be picked up in the majority of retailers such as Boots, Debenhams and Tesco, Dunnes etc. Prices vary between €5.00 and €10.00 and it always lasts ages! I also use the Nivea Cleansing Milk as it soothes skin whilst removing the makeup. It costs €6.99 in the majority of retailers too.

Avoid hot water on the face: This is true for all year around but particularly relevant for Winter. I am guilty of letting the warm eater hit my face in the shower but I am trying to avoid it now. Warm water dries out your skin and this combined with the false heat also drying it out, will strip essential oils will from your skin. It is also recommended that you apply moisturizer on face and body within two minutes of your shower and it is the most effective time to lock in the moisture.

Add in Oils & Milk: This one is more so for your body as opposed to your face but who doesn’t want soft,Product Image For Grapeseed Massage Base Oil supple skin all year round?! Add in some Olive or Grape seed oil to your shower  as it will help re-hydrate skin. Check out health food stores for these oils, Holland & Barrett stock them for €4.49. Alternatively  pop into your fridge and grab some whole milk to add to your shower. It will have the same effect and leave your skin feeling super soft.

As always the products and methods listed above won’t break the bank. They are all quite reasonable and can be done on a budget as we are not all millionaires who can splash out on expensive beauty products and procedures.

Nail that Sale

Hey Guys,

We all know the day after Christmas means one thing (aside from more over eating and drinking) it is of course the post Christmas sales. As I previously worked in retail for 6 years and the fact that I am a self confessed shopaholic, I know how to sale shop!

While there are great bargains to be found, there are also in many cases old products from the back of the stock room thrown out onto the floor too. So you the shopper is often left wading through stock from two seasons ago, just to find the styles you have been looking for. So I have picked out my favourites from this year’s sales to hopefully help you safe some time, effort and of course money!

I personally try not to buy anything that is too ‘this season’ during the sales as I always fall in love with the new stock coming into the stores. I only ever pick something that I know I will like this time next year too, hence nothing that is associated too much with a particular trend.

Top 5 Foundations

Hey Guys,

I am always been told not to wear my MAC foundation each time I apply my make-up. Everyone always says it’s a waste for day to day use and that it should be kept for nights out and special occasions. I find that one bottle however does last as only a small amount is required. However these conversations did prompt me to think of the foundations I have previously used and evaluate what foundations have the best purpose and what are my favourites. I’ve also tested out a few cheaper options to try and decipher my Top 5 Foundations currently available.

Best For Staying Put : Estee Lauder Double Wear

This foundation literally does what it says on the tin. It really does not come off your face until you are removing it with cleanser, even then it takes a while to get off properly. Some may think it is a bit heavy, however girls I know swear by it. I used to wear it too but find it can be a tad heavy. It is however ideal if you want to apply makeup in the morning and not touch it until your going to bed. It really does stay put! For those of you who think it may be a bit thick then maybe try the new ‘light’ version. Both options are available from €37.00 in a number of different retailers including Boots and Debenhams.

Best for Light Everyday Wear : Catrice Nude Illusion

I was pleasantly surprised by the Nude Illusion offering by Catrice. It gives a nice over all coverage, but you don’t feel like you are wearing make-up. It is ideal for a day when your not doing a full face of make-up but just want to stick on a bit of foundation and mascara. I also really liked the colour as I did feel like I wasn’t wearing any make-up but obviously looked better than I do without it! It’s also such a bargain at €8.49 meaning that you don’t have to worry about wearing it every day.

Best for Nights Out : MAC Studio Fix

I love this foundation, it gives great coverage without being too heavy and I think it is perfect for a night out. It helps balance out your skin tone, particularly for pictures. The girls in MAC are also great for matching up the perfect colour for your skin. The foundation itself gives a nice, healthy and illuminating sheen without the dreaded shine. It also lasts ages as I find I genuinely don’t need much for each application. You can buy it from Brown Thomas or online from €31.50

Best for Brightening up Tired Skin: Rimmel Wake Me Up

I was initially skeptical when trying out this foundation. If I’m honest, I didn’t believe that a budget foundation could brighten and ‘wake up’ my consistently tired skin. I did however notice a difference, so I will hold my hands up and admit I was wrong for my skepticism! The skin (bags) around and under my eyes actually did look brighter and I found it did match my skin tone really well. It is also a complete bargain too at €10.99, available from a range of different retailers such as Boots and Penneys.

Best for a Dewy Complexion: Chanel Perfection Lumiere

I love the satin smooth feel of this foundation. It’s almost as if it melts onto your skin and it gives a lovely, dewy finish. I also noticed that it did last a long time as it is quite thick and creamy meaning you really don’t need to apply much. The illuminating aspect of this foundation was great and I didn’t even need much highlighter while wearing it. This foundation costs around €44.00 but as I said I found that it lasted me a significant amount of time, meaning it balanced out the price.

Ice-Queen

Hey Guys,

This weekend I had an event to attend, one which was quite difficult to assess in terms of what to wear. On one hand I didn’t want to be too over dressed but I certainly did not want to be under dressed. Anyone who knows me understands how much I love to play dress up and stick the war paint on! It would be a cardinal sin for me to turn down an opportunity to get dolled up! I wanted something different and strayed away from my usual dark colours and opted for muted, Winter pastels.

Top €6.99, Necklace €14.99, Shoes €24.99 all Newlook Pencil Skirt €18.00 River Island (on sale, WINNING!)

Aside from the statement necklace, I kept my jewellery quite simple. I just wore my watch (I always wear a watch!) my Pandora bracelet and a simple band ring I have from Links of London. I didn’t want to over do it and take away from the simplicity of the outfit.

Needless to say by the end of the day I was nearly the same colour as the skirt, thanks to the good old Irish weather, but nothing a few sneaky vodkas couldn’t fix!

Hope you enjoyed 🙂
