How I spent V-Day

Hey Guys,

I hope you’re all having a lovely Sunday. The sun is shining here so it’s always easier to have a smile on your face when it’s not raining! Yesterday was Valentine’s Day as I’m sure you’re all more than aware. As I said in Friday’s post, I’m not a huge fan of February 14th, but uncharacteristically, I actually had a nice day. Not a cliché in sight.

The day kicked off with a mini mother – daughter pampering day. I posted the picture below on Facebook yesterday and I received some messages asking about my watch.

IMG_0989The watch is from Guess and I bought it in Macy’s in New York. There are similar ones available however in jewellers such as Fields. My hands look so small minus my gel nails, but I wanted to give my nails a break so as not to cause too much damage. As I said yesterday check out The Makeup Box in Naas, I will definitely be going back, great service and prices.

What I Wore

Cape €20.00 TK Maxx, Black turtle neck €6.00 Penneys / Primark

My over the knee boots are from Newlook, I bought them last September and I have gotten so much wear out of them. H&M and River Island have some similar alternatives in store.

I kept everything else quite muted and stuck with black as I felt the cape was enough. It was such a bargain and it’s so soft and cosy. I felt like I had a blanket wrapped around me in the cinema. I think we were the only couple in the cinema last night who didn’t go see 50 Shades of Grey! We also avoided the ‘fancy restaurant’  and opted for Nando’s as I am a huge fan!

I hope you all had a nice V-Day whether it was spent in the traditional sense or whether you were boycotting the entire ‘holiday’ for want of a better description.

Slovakian Style Diary

We Travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us

bratislava_castle_and_old_town

Hey Guys,

I’m just home from a wonderful, long weekend in Slovakia. Braislava is a beautiful city which was made even prettier by the snow. We had a great time and ate and drank far too much (which is to be expected) but I will be doing a blog post on that in the coming week. For this particular post, I am going to focus on what I wore as I have been receiving some messages on Facebook and Instagram asking where I purchased everything.

58-1

I am hands down the worst packer in the world! I always leave it until the last minute and am extremely indecisive when it comes to deciding what to bring. For our trip to Bratislava we only had our hand luggage so I had no choice but to be remotely sensible and objective in my choices.

So here is my Slovakian Style Diary

I love my Leather Jacket because the fur trim can actually be removed so it will be useful in the Spring too. I got it for Christmas and it is perfect for these cold mornings, it can be bought Here

My Jeans are the Molly Reform Jeggings and I have these in a range of different colours. They are, in my opinion, the best fitting jeans available. They can be bought for €50.00 Here

I bought my ankle boots in Newlook for an absolute bargain of €27.00 but they don’t appear to be available any more. I did however spot these lovely boots on the Newlook website. You can check them out Here & Here

My Bag is one of my favourite buys of 2014, I love large bags and I was looking for a nice black one for ages. It is from H&M however as it was bought last November, I don’t think it is still available, but I did spot this almost identical option online.

My hat was my saviour for the weekend, it not only protected me from the snow, it also acted as a shield between my hungover face and the Slovakian Airport. In hindsight it is probably the reasoning behind me getting unpleasantly fondled by the airport security. Apparently I looked like a criminal 😛 Anyway it can be bought from H&M and such a bargain at €19.99!

My tartan scarf is actually from Scotland. I bought it a few years back when I was in Edinburgh. This option from River Island however is pretty similar.

My second favourite look from when I was away can be seen below.

My jeans are again the Molly Jeggings (I wasn’t lying when I said they were my favourites!) and they can be bought here. I fell in love with this fur headband when I seen it a few weeks back. I wore it both day and night and it kept me so warm! It was of course an absolute steal in Newlook, check it out here. My knee high boots also came in so handy as they kept me warm in the snow. I bought these in Newlook too, but they don’t seem to be available anymore. I have chosen a few similar options that you can try:

 River Island , H&M

I love quilted coats and the one I’m wearing from Zara has been such a good investment. I think it is sold out at the moment but a very similar one is still available in the store.

I always tend to keep my outfits casual when I’m away, particularly when the weather is cod. My outfits mainly included turtle necks, skinny jeans and flat boots as you can see. I’m also a sucker for some faux fur which can be seen in both outfits.

So there’s my Slovakian Style Diary, I hope you enjoyed and found the links useful 🙂

Happy Shopping!

Bubye 2014

Hey Guys,

I have to say I’m not the biggest fan of New Year’s Eve, I like New Year’s Day as it is a second Christmas in our household. The ‘Eve’ part however just doesn’t appeal to me, but to be fair I have to acknowledge it. I’m not one for long winded, unattainable resolutions so this post will most certainly not be based on that aspect. Instead I have decided to do a quick review about my 2014, it has been an eventful year to say the least. I am going to focus on the highlights and forget about the lows as I plan on leaving them in 2014 also!

So here it goes….

Proudest Achievement of 2014: I have two (sorry I’m crap at narrowing things down) the first is graduating with a first class honours degree (victory dance) in Marketing after four years of studying. The second would be starting my blog. I’ve always wanted to do it so I’m really happy that I actually took the plunge!

Biggest Change of 2014: Finishing college and actually using my degree to get a job and becoming a grown-up (ish) Bubye retail!

Favourite Song of 2014: I’m not usually a pop music kinda girl but it would have to be ‘Rather Be’ by Clean Bandit. I just have some good memories and I always smile when I hear it! I’m also loving Uptown Funk I have been bopping around to it since it came out!

Favourite Movie of 2014: Ok I’m cheating here but the movie I was going to say was actually released late 2013 but it was my favourite and I did only watch it in 2014 🙂 So it was of course Saving Mr Banks

Favourite Style Icon of 2014: It has to be Olivia Palermo, she is so unique and elegant in her choice of clothing. The girl knows what she is doing!

Favourite Designer of 2014: It would probably have to be Victoria Beckham or Eli Saab, god I really am bad at choosing just one 😛

Favourite Holiday of 2014: Without a doubt it has to be Prague. It is such a beautiful city and I had the most amazing time there in the Summer. I would recommend it to anyone!

Favourite Buy of 2014: My baby blue pencil skirt which I got ON SALE in River Island. I can’t wait to wear it again, I really do love it!

Favourite Style of 2014: Turtle necks, I am obsessed!

Favourite Quote of 2014:

What I’m most appreciative for in 2014: It has to be the support and inspiration I have received from my amazing family, my best friends (you know who you are) and my boyfriend of course!

My Favourite advice from 2014: Burn the fancy candles and wear the expensive perfume, don’t wait for the right time.

What I learned in 2014: Do not judge anyone for any reason. Simple as. Nobody knows what is going on in anyone else’s private life. I’ve also learned not to worry about others judging me! Absolutely nobody on this planet is perfect but there will always be someone somewhere, with something to say!

My Aim for 2015: Put my plans into action and push out negative thoughts and anxiety!

I hope you all have a wonderful New Year’s Eve / Day and get to spend it with those you love. At the end of the day, that is really all that matters. Here’s to a fricken fantastic year!

Until 2015 My Loves
