This Weeks Firm Favourites

Hello Beautiful People ❤

I hope you’ve all had a fabulous week so far. I’ve been so busy with work, but am settling in and not feeling like the new girl anymore! I’ve had a great week, maybe not the most productive but sometimes it’s nice to relax at home and just reduce the stress. This post is all about the things I’ve been loving this week.

Suits

Netflix to the rescue again. I’m really loving ‘Suits’ at the moment. I’ve had a lot of unproductive evenings just eating and watching it in bed. This is not great for my waistline but it’s also heaven!

New Nails

I got my nails done again in the lovely Makeup Box in Naas. It’s great going somewhere with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The perfect way to kick off my weekend. I’ve decided not to get my gel nails done as it would be too difficult with the Invisalign, so I’m sticking with Shellac 🙂

New Hair Brush

I’m loving my new wooden brush by Kent. It smoothes hair naturally and the bristles massage my head too. I got it in Boots and it was €10.50 but the quality is worth it. My boyfriend thinks I’m slightly insane but a good hair brush makes all the difference.

Food

Remember my post last week about not being able to eat due to my Invisalign, well this week I’ve more than made up for it. I’ve seriously over done it on the carbs and chocolate. I need to get motivated again as I’m feeling so sluggish but I just keep reaching for the chocolate!

Getting used to my Invisalign

After two weeks I can finally close my mouth properly again. Yes it is a small victory but a victory all the same 😛 Excuse the picture, it’s after a long day in work.

My new set of aligners are being put in on Tuesday and I’m praying my little win is not short lived!

Elie Saab at Paris Fashion Week

Last but certainly not least, I am in love with Elie Saab’s catwalk show at Paris Fashion Week. He is one of my favourite designers and I love everything about the looks he showcased during his ‘Way of the Woods’ show.

So the above pretty much sums up what has made me smile this week. I’m going to the Irish Beauty Show tomorrow too so I will of course keep you all updated on that also. Enjoy the rest of your weekend ❤

Healthy Hair, Happy You

Hey Guys,

I’m always looking for natural remedies to ensure my hair remains in good condition. There are a number of ways to keep your hair healthy and I think the majority of us are aware of these methods. Reducing the amount of heat you use on your hair and not washing it everyday seem to be the most widespread recommendations to ensure your locks remain in tact. I however have been trying out some additional methods and I’ve found that they are working great. I’ve noticed a significant difference in both the appearance and texture of my hair since the introduction. I can honestly say that after implementing these small changes into my lifestyle I certainly wont be going back! It’s nothing drastic. All of them are simple and easily incorporated into your everyday schedule.

Coconut Oil & Castor Oil

I know in  many cases hearing the word oil can instantly draw associations with greasy hair. Coconut oil however is great for nourishing your hair and is renowned for stimulating hair growth. Melt the oil and massage into your roots and the end of your hair. I leave it over night and just clip my hair up. I do however think it is really important to make sure you shampoo your hair twice the next day to ensure all traces of the oil are removed to avoid greasiness.  Coconut oil can be bought in the majority of supermarkets now and is also available in Holland & Barrett and other health stores.

Castor Oil can also have the same effect on hair growth and can be applied in the same manner as listed above. When choosing Castor Oil make sure it is cold pressed as this will benefit your hair the most. I found it quite difficult to find Castor Oil initially but it is available at The Health Food Store

Pukka Castor Oil

Top Tip: Mix the two together to create the ultimate hair care product!

Biotin

I have read mixed reviews but I personally cannot rave about this product enough! I have been taking one capsule a day and I have noticed my hair not only growing quicker but also thickening too. There are a number of different strengths that you can get, so I would suggest that if you are apprehensive to ease the regime into your lifestyle.

Cushion Pin Paddle Brush

A cushion pin, paddle brush is excellent for smoothing hair without causing damage. If you opt for a wooden version, it will aid in evenly distributing the natural oil in your hair. This will not only reduce the dreaded ‘greasy’ look, it will also result in your hair getting a natural conditioning treatment. I find that this results in me using less conditioner which means I don’t have to wash my hair as often. These kind of brushes can be purchased in almost every store that sells hairbrushes; Boots, pharmacies and even supermarkets. They are generally reasonable enough too.

We are all guilty of mistreating our hair. However these little introductions into your lifestyle can help combat any long term damage. As I said, these small changes have had a significant impact on my hair. I was initially considering the option of getting extensions but now I think that I am going to stick on this path. If the results continue as well as they have been over the last few weeks, I will be one happy bunny!

I hope you are all having a lovely Friday

Slovakian Style Diary

We Travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us

bratislava_castle_and_old_town

Hey Guys,

I’m just home from a wonderful, long weekend in Slovakia. Braislava is a beautiful city which was made even prettier by the snow. We had a great time and ate and drank far too much (which is to be expected) but I will be doing a blog post on that in the coming week. For this particular post, I am going to focus on what I wore as I have been receiving some messages on Facebook and Instagram asking where I purchased everything.

58-1

I am hands down the worst packer in the world! I always leave it until the last minute and am extremely indecisive when it comes to deciding what to bring. For our trip to Bratislava we only had our hand luggage so I had no choice but to be remotely sensible and objective in my choices.

So here is my Slovakian Style Diary

I love my Leather Jacket because the fur trim can actually be removed so it will be useful in the Spring too. I got it for Christmas and it is perfect for these cold mornings, it can be bought Here

My Jeans are the Molly Reform Jeggings and I have these in a range of different colours. They are, in my opinion, the best fitting jeans available. They can be bought for €50.00 Here

I bought my ankle boots in Newlook for an absolute bargain of €27.00 but they don’t appear to be available any more. I did however spot these lovely boots on the Newlook website. You can check them out Here & Here

My Bag is one of my favourite buys of 2014, I love large bags and I was looking for a nice black one for ages. It is from H&M however as it was bought last November, I don’t think it is still available, but I did spot this almost identical option online.

My hat was my saviour for the weekend, it not only protected me from the snow, it also acted as a shield between my hungover face and the Slovakian Airport. In hindsight it is probably the reasoning behind me getting unpleasantly fondled by the airport security. Apparently I looked like a criminal 😛 Anyway it can be bought from H&M and such a bargain at €19.99!

My tartan scarf is actually from Scotland. I bought it a few years back when I was in Edinburgh. This option from River Island however is pretty similar.

My second favourite look from when I was away can be seen below.

My jeans are again the Molly Jeggings (I wasn’t lying when I said they were my favourites!) and they can be bought here. I fell in love with this fur headband when I seen it a few weeks back. I wore it both day and night and it kept me so warm! It was of course an absolute steal in Newlook, check it out here. My knee high boots also came in so handy as they kept me warm in the snow. I bought these in Newlook too, but they don’t seem to be available anymore. I have chosen a few similar options that you can try:

I love quilted coats and the one I’m wearing from Zara has been such a good investment. I think it is sold out at the moment but a very similar one is still available in the store.

Image 2 of SHORT ANORAK WITH FUR COLLAR from Zara

I always tend to keep my outfits casual when I’m away, particularly when the weather is cod. My outfits mainly included turtle necks, skinny jeans and flat boots as you can see. I’m also a sucker for some faux fur which can be seen in both outfits.

So there’s my Slovakian Style Diary, I hope you enjoyed and found the links useful 🙂

Happy Shopping!
