Mad about Monochrome

Hey guys,

Monochrome played a huge part throughout each Fashion Week, present in the New York, London and now Paris shows. Monochrome may be a key trend for SS15, however its also great for adding instant glamour to any night out for Autumn and Winter too. The power of monochrome can be extremely underestimated. It is a strong tool for adding elegance to your look. It is a timeless, classic and yet modern look that suits everyone.

Fantastically Floral

Hey Guys,

As you will know from my previous posts, I have been keeping a close eye on the trends being showcased throughout the different Fashion Weeks across the style capitals. I have decided that for my next few posts, I am going to pick a trend that has been highlighted and show high street options which are currently available.

The first trend I am going to focus on is Floral. Shown throughout Matthew Williamson’s designs and making an appearance on Carolina Herrera’s catwalk, floral is a sure thing for Spring 2015. Floral pieces are a great investment too as you are almost guranteed that they will be in style at some point again the following year. They are quite versatile and can be dressed up or used to spruce up an otherwise plain outfit. Floral prints add femininity to any outfit but are also great for mixing with leather to embrace a darker look.

River Island €100.00

River Island €100.00

I’m in love with this floral box jacket from River Island. It’s perfect for day or night and can be worn for any occasion. Paired with a simple cami and pair of jeans, this jacket will ensure you are turning heads. Its also great for complementing a dress when it comes to events and occasions. It is extremely versatile and therefore in my mind worth the price tag.

Topshop €127.00

Topshop €127.00

This floral co-ordinate set from Topshop is also one of my favourites on the high street at the moment. The tapestry effect radiates an eastern appeal and these pieces will work well either worn together or separated to one piece per outfit. Again worn on a night out with a pair of killer heels or dressed down with tights and ankle boots, this co-ordinate set is definitely an investment. Throw on a faux fur coat or gilet for the winter months to further embrace the eastern look.

Missguided: Silk feel blouse €20.99, Trousers €34.99

Missguided: Silk feel blouse €20.99, Trousers €34.99

These silk feel trousers and matching blouse were originally a separate ensemble however I think they look pretty great together. Opting for this outfit will also tick off another key trend highlighted throughout Fashion week; Ox-Blood/Burgundy. The great thing about co-ordinate sets is you technically get the option for three outfits as opposed to one. This outfit is also offered at a reasonable price too, which makes it even better!

ASOS €54.03

ASOS €54.03

Floral prints on darker backgrounds are also perfect for Autumn/Winter. From my previous posts you will know I LOVE full, midi skirts so this ASOS skirt is ideal for an event occurring in the Autumn or Winter season. Proof once again that floral is not solely confined to Spring and Summer. This skirt is great paired with a black top,but if you wish to stand out, pick a colour from the floral print and run with that.

If you are unsure about investing in floral pieces, why not ease yourself in with some floral accessories to embrace the trend.

Hey Guys,

As my last few posts have been all about Fashion Week, I thought today’s post should be dedicated to the stars who graced these shows and looked flawless. From SJP to Olivia Palermo, of course the Frow was as stylish as the pieces being modelled down the catwalk.

Attending the Calvin Klein Spring 2015 show, Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted rocking this statement blue coat, a possible ode to the upcoming tailored trend. Of course SJP would have to put her own twist on this trend and opt for such a striking colour; something only she could pull off. It’s very Ms. Bradshaw and perfectly suitable for the streets of New York.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Attending the Desigual show during New York Fashion Week, Olivia Palermo looked exquisite as always in one of Desiqual’s designs. Always one to opt for something a little different and lot more fabulous, she looked completely unique and beautiful. I’m loving the cute and chic hair she chose for her look along with the clashing clutch.

One Fashion Week is clearly not enough for this style icon. Ms. Palermo effectively hopped the pond to the London shows and managed to remain equally as stylish as the previous week. She chose to go head to toe in Burberry Prorsum FW14 in a ombre lace dress, co-ordinated with a chic belted scarf to complete her look. That hair is also phenomenal! Leather on Leather was also a look she used, more than likely to keep warm in the less than fantastic London weather. She still manages to make double leather look ladylike and sophisticated, something that is not an easy task.

Two of the ultimate style icons today, completely knocked it out of the park with their Fashion Week styles. I don’t think either ever seem to put a foot wrong when it comes to selecting outfits and act as perfect inspiration for my next shopping haul.

London Fashion Week

Hey Guys,

London Fashion Week has just finished up, leaving a stiletto shaped hole in my heart. Following NY Fashion Week is no easy task, however of course they pulled out all the stops to ensure LFW was one to remember. I personally loved the styles present on the catwalks. They are actually looks that can be worn by us normal girls too! I am very excited for the SS15 styles to come into play.

There are many styles to look out for in Spring 2015. My favourites that seem to be prevalent across many of the designer catwalks, include; Ox-Blood, transparent and sheer fabrics, white and muted colours and of course black! I have put together some pictures of my favourite looks from London Fashion Week. I particularly loved the Temperley London catwalk which is shown at the end of this post.

David Koma

These designs consisted of great structure within each piece. The different fabrics and texture used for each, create a sophisticated appeal. The simple and understated colours mixed with the monochrome aspect add a timeless effect to these styles. I’m also in love with the shoes used throughout David Korma’s show.

Christopher Kane

I loved the looks present on the Christopher Kane catwalk in London. I admire how he mixes a masculine appeal into his clothing. The shapes and colours used are perfect for the woman who wants to be taken seriously. There is almost a work wear appeal to some of the pieces and they look ‘fierce’ for want of a better word. I really cannot pull off saying fierce but that is what his shows radiate! The ox-blood colouring present, is perfectly complemented by the use of monochrome and all white. The sheer fabrics are also seen on this catwalk. I love the mixture between the transparent black material and the crotchet/lace texture used in the dress pictured below.

Tom Ford

Never one to disappoint, Tom Ford showed us that black, black and more black will be prevalent through to Spring. Mixed with metallic and sheer fabrics, black is remaining a serious style staple according to Mr. Ford. I for one will not be disputing this fact! The detail used on each catwalk piece was incredible and really showed that black is anything but boring. Glamour, opulance and sex appeal; classic Tom Ford.

Simone Rocha

The Irish born designer that is Simone Rocha, is making a serious name for herself in the fashion world. Her catwalk show for London Fashion week showcased a mixture of black and muted colours; including the ever popular white. I personally loved the trim of each piece and the use of the scalloped edges. Sheer fabrics were once again in use, take note ladies!

Osman

This show also reinforced the use of the monochrome appeal for Spring 2015. Softer colours like the powder blue was also showcased on Osman’s catwalk. The textures again softened the looks, creating a feminine and ladylike allure.

Temperley London

I fell in love with the designs showcased throughout this show. The colours used are beautiful and perfect for Spring. From the mixture between the white and clashing colours to the soft, pastel blues in play, Temperley London have created stunning Spring/Summer inspiration. I love the use of the white pant suit. It is so versatile and can be utilised to achieve many different looks.
