Race Day – What We Wore

Hello Beautiful People ❤

I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend? I am currently nursing a bit of a sore head after a great girls night out. I think we all need to let our hair down a little from time to time. Trying to eat healthy has gone out the window the last two days but I will be back on track tomorrow (hopefully)

We had an excuse to get more glammed up than usual due to the fact it was ‘Ladies Day’ at the races. I had a last minute outfit panic and ended up buying two different options on Thursday evening. I am the worst for doing that to myself, I then feel stressed then until I’m actually in the outfit and popping out the door.

NYFW Favourites

Hey Guys,

Anyone who knows me will know that New York Fashion Week is like my Christmas. I have been glued to every and any online outlet for the designs since the shows kicked off. One of these days I will get there and be witnessing it all first hand. One day…..

I couldn’t wait to see the Victoria Beckham show as I think her designs are amazing. Needless to say the catwalk did not disappoint. Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors are also firm favourites of mine. So here are some of my top picks from the shows so far, I hope you enjoy 🙂

Victoria Beckham

 Diane von Furstenberg

Oscar de la Renta

Monique Lhuillier

Tommy Hilfiger

Zac Posen

 Michael Kors

Herve Leger by Max Azria

I particularly admired Peter Copping’s designs for Oscar de la Renta, which did not disappoint despite the late namesake not being this year’s creator.

The FROW’s style was also particularly admirable as always. I will be doing more on some of their looks later in the week.

Power of the Pencil Skirt

Hey Guys,

I am a big fan of pencil skirts and I think they are perfect for a night out. I tend to opt for  a pencil skirt and top as opposed to a  dress. I think it helps elongate my body and slims my hips. Pencil skirts are not only extremely stylish, they also streamline any body shape, giving a sexy silhouette. They are perfect for nights out but also for occasions. Just invest wisely in the colour! When choosing a pencil skirt, make sure the material is thick enough to cover underwear lines and the like but not too thick that it adds bulk. At the moment I am in love with the options currently available in River Island. The faux leather material is so flattering and the placement of the pockets will actually slim the hips and help create an hourglass shape. The band around the waistline will also emphasis your curves giving the illusion of an even smaller waist.

At €40.00 they are a complete steal and will go with everything. I already have a black and baby blue one but I can see myself investing in some more colours. The skirts themselves are very flattering and are so versatile.

Boohoo to the Rescue

If like me you have no willpower when it comes to shopping and unfortunately do not have the bank balance to always support this, then Boohoo.com can come to your rescue. As I was looking online for some new wardrobe staples, I found myself sucked into boohoo’s latest offerings. The prices are also pretty reasonable which means you wont feel that post purchase guilt!

90s Glam

I am  a huge fan of 90s glam and retro style, something Boohoo currently have in abundance. LBDs and spaghetti straps are everywhere at the moment and the one pictured below from Boohoo ticks all the right boxes.

Racer Front bandage dress €30.00, Ankle Strap Heels €30.00, clip side neon purse €9.00

The Jumpsuit

As the jumpsuit is currently gracing designer catwalks everywhere (see my article on Versace’s Couture show for Paris Fashion Week!) it makes sense that retailers are now offering us ordinary gals who aren’t buying the designer options, an array of jumpsuits to choose from. It is however important to choose a jumpsuit that has a proper shape and colouring. Details are also crucial, otherwise they can end up looking cheap. Boohoo currently offer designer inspired options which look a lot more expensive than they actually are, always good!

Wrap front belted playsuit €30.00, Lace trim Cobalt Jumpsuit €38.00, Strappy Monochrome ‘illusion’ jumpsuit €30.00

Femme Fatale

Now while I’m loving the boho look at the moment, when I get an opportunity to dress up, I take it! I love a good bodycon dress with strappy heels. As dark red and cuffs are currently on the top of my fashion wishlist, I was delighted to come across this dress and the shoes below.

Slinky plum dress €22.00, Cuffed barely there patent heels €38.00, Box Clutch €28.00

The Kimono

I personally am also a big fan of Kimono’s, I think they are so versatile and can be teemed with almost anything. I love pairing them with a cami and jeans/shorts for a casual, laid back look. They are also useful for nights out and festivals where a proper jacket is just too heavy and may detract from your outfit. Boohoo have some great kimono’s available at the moment; from bright, punchy colours to fringed, printed options. Take a look at this fab paisley printed kimono which is only €22.00, a great bargain! It would be perfect paired with acid wash jeand and just a casual grey or white tee!

There are so many more outfit options available on the website, so happy shopping you guys 🙂 x
