NYFW Favourites

Hey Guys,

Anyone who knows me will know that New York Fashion Week is like my Christmas. I have been glued to every and any online outlet for the designs since the shows kicked off. One of these days I will get there and be witnessing it all first hand. One day…..

I couldn’t wait to see the Victoria Beckham show as I think her designs are amazing. Needless to say the catwalk did not disappoint. Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors are also firm favourites of mine. So here are some of my top picks from the shows so far, I hope you enjoy 🙂

Victoria Beckham

 Diane von Furstenberg

Oscar de la Renta

Monique Lhuillier

Tommy Hilfiger

Zac Posen

 Michael Kors

Herve Leger by Max Azria

I particularly admired Peter Copping’s designs for Oscar de la Renta, which did not disappoint despite the late namesake not being this year’s creator.

The FROW’s style was also particularly admirable as always. I will be doing more on some of their looks later in the week.

Steal her Style: Miranda Kerr

Hey Guys,

I’m a big fan of Miranda Kerr. I know it’s difficult for a top model to look bad, but I do think that she rarely puts a foot wrong in the style stakes. She’s constantly rocking a polished, chic look that somehow still looks effortless. Thigh high boots are everywhere at the moment and this is a great look to not only showcase the trend, but your pins too! Thigh highs can be a tricky trend to pull off in a classy way but this look is incredibly stylish and actually wearable too.

Power of the Pencil Skirt

Hey Guys,

I am a big fan of pencil skirts and I think they are perfect for a night out. I tend to opt for  a pencil skirt and top as opposed to a  dress. I think it helps elongate my body and slims my hips. Pencil skirts are not only extremely stylish, they also streamline any body shape, giving a sexy silhouette. They are perfect for nights out but also for occasions. Just invest wisely in the colour! When choosing a pencil skirt, make sure the material is thick enough to cover underwear lines and the like but not too thick that it adds bulk. At the moment I am in love with the options currently available in River Island. The faux leather material is so flattering and the placement of the pockets will actually slim the hips and help create an hourglass shape. The band around the waistline will also emphasis your curves giving the illusion of an even smaller waist.

At €40.00 they are a complete steal and will go with everything. I already have a black and baby blue one but I can see myself investing in some more colours. The skirts themselves are very flattering and are so versatile.

It’s a Wrap

Hey Guys,

I’ve recently been watching House of DVF as I am a huge fan of Diane von Furstenberg. Since I started watching the programme, it has me reminiscing over DVF’s incredible creations for the fashion world. Famed for her introduction of the ‘Wrap Dress’ DVF has contributed massively into the fashion world. She has continuously remained true to her own personal style, strength and elegance and this is portrayed into her designs. She genuinely is a true fashion icon, whose designs will always have influence, long after they are created.

The Wrap Dress has evolved massively over the years and has progressed from just dresses to blouses, skirts and jumpsuits too. There are so many options for us ladies to now choose from. The wrap look is so flattering and can hide a multitude of sins. Particularly useful around Christmas when those sins are to be found in abundance!

Here are some of the best Wrap options available at the moment, all of which are pretty reasonable too. They are perfect for Christmas nights out, which will be hear before we know it!

As always everything is reasonably priced on Boohoo. This helps ease the guilt post shopping spree. Investing in occasion pieces for Christmas is always a great idea and styles tend not to vary too much each year. If you purchase a faux fur jacket, a sparkly dress or an extra glam blazer or jumpsuit, you’re almost guaranteed that you will get more wear out of it the following year. The trends for Christmas period always revolve around a glamorous and opulent appeal. Therefore us gals are perfectly justified in our fashion expenditure, that’s my excuse and I am most definitely sticking to it! So don’t forget to check out http://www.boohoo.com
