Since my last Diet and Fitness post (here) I have hurt my neck, hip and knee. It’s been an eventful week to say the least. It hasn’t been too productive in terms of workouts though…for obvious reasons!
After a trip to the nurse, a lot of painkillers and a significant amount of self pity, I am almost back to normal. I plan to ease myself back into my workouts slowly to avoid any further damage. We went for a walk on Sunday instead of anything too strenuous, plus it was such a beautiful day (a rarity in Ireland) so it was win win.
Usually if I’m feeling in any way unwell I tend to eat a mountainous amount of carbs and sugar. While I did still have a treat each day, I don’t feel like I over did it too much. I mentioned last week that I was going to do 3 x Cheat Meals a week and I do think it had a positive impact.
To combat my sweet tooth I made coconut protein balls over the weekend which turned out much better than I had initially thought! I’ll put the recipe up over in the Food section of the blog this week.
After a delicious trip to Mooch on Friday evening, I decided I couldn’t justify going again on Saturday. Instead I made my own version. The Yoo Moo frozen yogurt was the best version in terms of nutritional info that I could find in Tesco. It’s still not a ‘healthy snack’ but it’s a less guilty treat if you will.
I did eat out quite a bit, but I just tried to chose the healthiest option where possible. I know it’s better to eat home cooked meals as you can tell exactly what has gone into your food, but I love going for dinner. It’s such a nice way to catch up with people. Food, chats, wine – what’s not to love?
Chicken & Veg Stirfry – with soy and ginger sauce and a side of brown steamed rice:
Now despite my best efforts, my healthy eating wasn’t great over the weekend. I just don’t diet at weekends, never have and probably never will. I admire people who can still be strict on Saturdays and Sundays, but I’m just not one of them.
This is what Sundays usually look like in my house….
I started Monday off on a good note however and I will (hopefully) continue on this mindset throughout the week.
Mini Protein pancakes using 1 x egg, 1 x egg white, vanilla protein, cinnamon & vanilla extract:
My plan for the coming week is to keep the balance. I don’t believe in cutting out any food groups, I don’t like to discriminate (haha) plus it just builds up intolerances. Carbs and fats (the good kind) are not the enemy! If I was to cut everything out and then start eating it again whilst away on holidays, I would feel the negative impacts straight away.
The only items I am completely banishing from my diet are fizzy drinks and overly processed food!
As always I will be doing daily updates about my healthy eating over on Instagram & Snapchat (DayDreamerChic)
Don’t forget to let me know how you’re getting on!
