Confessions of a Secret Snacker: Protein Power

Hello Beautiful People ❤

I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend? I’m currently in bed trying to convince myself to get up and be productive, but Sundays for me just equal relaxation! I think we all need a little down time ❤

Anyway down to business –

This week hasn’t been as healthy as last, but it has still been better than usual so I’m not getting disheartened. I did go out on Friday for a work BBQ / Launch night. I had a great time and regret nothing! It was a calorific night but we need these every once and a while.

Last weekend at The Hen House – food was amazing!

Yesterday’s healthy snack:

This week I have been trying to incorporate more protein into my diet as it does keep me fuller for longer. I’m such a carb lover, I really do love bread, pizza, pancakes etc but I know they’re not good for me. So for the last few days, I’ve been trying to add protein into my meals.

Anyone who follows me on Instagram will have seen my favourite Paleo Pancakes:

 2 x eggs, 1 x banana & tsp of cinnamon

As these have eggs in them, the protein is sufficient, however I do sometimes add in half a scoop of protein powder to try and make them more filling.

I have also started adding some protein powder to my morning oats. They are now Protein Oats or ‘Proats’ as many people call them – we have such a propensity for combining words on social media don’t we? Anyway my ‘Proats’ if you will, have been providing a much more substantial breakfast for me during the week!

The protein I use is Casein and I get it in Creamy Vanilla, it’s great for baking and mixing into food. It’s a really good quality protein in my opinion.

I think a lot of people associate protein powder with body builders and girls who are ‘ripped’ which I most certainly am not! I use it because it’s a great way of including protein in your diet when you’re such a carb lover like me.

This week I’m going to keep adding protein and fresh fruit and veg into each meal (as I’ve been instructed!) I did also maybe eat a bit too much ‘squares’ of chocolate here and there this week too, so I’m going to monitor this a bit more carefully! I’ll let you guys know how I get on in next weeks post.

Until Next Time My Loves
