Confessions of a Secret Snacker: To Weigh or Not to Weigh

I hope you are feeling in tip top form today? I’ve been doing quite a bit of research over the last week in regards to the weighing scales. I was never the biggest advocate of the scales, however I did find that they helped me over the last few weeks. Weighing myself made me realise that what I was eating was slowly but surely catching up on me. It gave me the kick in the bum that I needed to be a bit more mindful of what I was eating.

What I have noticed however is that when I eat healthier food and do some exercise, I don’t seem to lose the weight. I do however look and feel better. The scales seem to be going down when I eat more ‘low fat’ processed foods, that really aren’t the best for me. Despite the scales being lighter, I hadn’t noticed too much difference in my appearance, which for me is more important than a number.

I do believe that the scales can work to your advantage and it is dependant on what your end goal is. For me personally, I think it’s time to focus on how I am feeling as opposed to what I weigh. I understand that some people need their weekly weigh in but for me, I think it’s time to stow the scales away.

I did have some sneaky little chocolate snacks throughout the week too. I have such a sweet tooth that I’ve just decided life is too short to cut it out all together. It’s my little treat for the day (sometimes more than a little) but over all with the weather being good, I feel my food intake has been healthier. I went a tad overboard on Friday (cheat day) and Sunday (no excuse) but Monday’s have a great way of letting you start fresh which is what I have done.

    • Ye Siobhan I think they may work for some people, but for now I’m going to try focus on my energy levels & how my jeans fit 🙂 x
