Confessions of a Secret Snacker: Week 2

Hey Guys,

So this is my second week running with this post, I hope you are enjoying it. Since I left you last, I have been keeping an eye on my food intake and my shocking snacking habits! I’m not going to lie I ate my body weight in junk food last weekend. You would be shocked by the amount I actually consumed! I went out last Saturday and this weekend which of course was followed by the mandatory takeaway. It’s bad enough the empty calories that come with the alcohol but the poor food choices I make when drunk and hungover are most certainly not ideal. As I said before, I tend to give myself a free pass at the weekends but I really do need to stop this.

This week has been so hectic that my exercise levels have not been great. I have been wrecked every night getting home late from work and I just want to relax before I have to get up and do it all over again. I have however been eating healthier than the previous week though. I have been replacing chocolate and crisps with fruit and yogurts (well trying to!) I have to say though it has made a difference to me. It is true what they say that it is 90% diet.

My new found love is Quest bars. I love the Oreo Cookie one. It satisfies my sweet tooth whilst also giving me a hit of protein. There’s also only 3g of net carbs in each one too. They can be a bit expensive but there’s always ‘2 for 1’ deals running so it’s not too bad.

I’ve also been swapping my lunch and dinner as I find I snack less when I am full during the day. Sweet potato has been my savior thiphoto (83)s week! I’ve also been trying to incorporate protein into every meal so I’ve been adding steak, chicken or fish to each meal or making protein pancakes. The only meal I struggle to do that with is breakfast. I don’t have a lot of time in the mornings and tend to eat it in the car. Porridge has been my go to meal each morning as it’s warm and easy to eat first thing. I’m working on thinking of alternatives for this so will keep you updated.

I’m still recovering from my weekend antics today but I’m trying to avoid all the naughty food currently residing in my presses!

Hope you enjoyed 🙂

  1. Have you tried protein shakes for breakfast? If I’m in a rush in the morning, these are my go to – I usually throw one scoop of protein powder (I usually use vanilla flavour but there are so many different flavours out there) half a cup of water, and some frozen fruit in the blender. It makes a really yummy smoothie, fills you up with protein, and keeps you full until lunch!

    • Shannon, thank you for your response, yes I do love protein shakes, I do try have something warm in the mornings as its so cold at the moment but I think I may suck it up and get back on the shakes! 🙂 xx
