I am terrible when it comes to eating chocolate. To be fair I love eating everything that’s bad for me. Sweets, cake, biscuits, crisps generally anything unhealthy you can think of, I love! So whilst I’m trying to cut down on all this kind of food, I find myself craving it ten times more. I suppose this generally tends to be the case. I however have very poor willpower and need something to satisfy my sweet tooth. I found this recipe for ‘healthy’ brownies on the internet from Olivia Jenkins. Now my first thought was quite skeptical. Brownies cannot taste good and actually be good for you but I was pleasantly surprised. Now let’s be realistic, healthy brownies are never going to taste better than full fat ones, but this is definitely a healthy alternative that will satisfy your sweet tooth!
So here’s the ingredients you need for these yummy, clean brownies:
- 1 can chickpeas (I didn’t use the full can)
- 1 cup oats
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 6 fresh dates
- 2 tbsp organic honey
- 2 tsps hazelnut extract
- 1/2 cup stevia
- 3/4 almond milk (I used soya as I didn’t have almond!)
I baked them for about 34/40 minutes, but this will probably depend on the strength of your oven. Mine is quite strong, so test your brownies after that time and decide if you need to leave them longer. Also don’t forget to preheat your oven!
Hope you guys enjoy, happy baking 🙂
