Each year Autumn / Winter collections generally consist of rich colourings usually along the lines of mustard, brown, green and of course black. This Autumn the colour of the season appears to be dark red. This plum inspired colour is already entering the highstreet and is making me excited for the cosy outfits ahead. Paired with black, cream, brown and / or denim, this colour is sure to set off any Autumn outfit you have planned. It will suit all skin tones and hair colours, though be careful not to wash yourself out with too much black accompanying it. It’s all about embracing the richness of the colour so choose items that will enhance it not dull it down i.e too many greyish colours.
When your shopping for this colour think burgundy, plum, dark raspberry. Don’t go for anything that isn’t vibrant and rich as you want a colour strong enough to make your entire outfit. Wishy washy colours will look cheaper. I’m not saying you have to spend a fortune, there are great finds on the highstreet that look a lot more expensive than they are!
One of my favourite finds so far would have to be this burgundy skirt from River Island (€33) it is so versatile and stylish! Paired with a chunky knit, tights and boots for the winter or with a pair of heels and a blouse / crop top for a night out. This skirt is such a good investment and will go with a multitude of styles!
If your unsure as to whether this is your colour, then add some dark red accessories to your outfit instead. Keep an eye out for dark red scarves and bags that will be coming to stores soon. Checkout Zara for some great scarves that may seem a little pricey initially but are great investments. The quality is really good and they will last! Also I’d recommend investing in a good lipstick in a burgundy tone. MAC’s Dark Side generally suits all skin tones and will last, it’s not a colour that will go out of style either (though best worn on nights out / Autumn and Winter!)
